Why is HVAC and duct cleaning important at my Webster property?

6/18/2020 (Permalink)

How can duct and HVAC cleaning help? Having your ventilation system cleaned routinely will improve the overall air quality!

It's important to have your ventilation system cleaned routinely. It will help improve the overall air quality, remove pollen, odors and debris from building up and circulating throughout your Webster property

Benefits of having your air ducts cleaned

Having your air ducts cleaned regularly can:

Create a cleaner environment: Having the air ducts cleaned at your Webster property reduces the amount of dust that circulates throughout the system and your home/business. This will then reduce the amount of cleaning/dusting you'll have to do!

Reduces allergens: Pet dander, pollen, mildew, mold spores (along with other irritants) can also be circulated throughout your system and property. Those who have allergies and asthma are typically very sensitive to these allergens floating around the place.

Removes unpleasant odors: Have you ever wondered just what that smell is?? It could be something circulating through your HVAC system. Food, pets, mold, cleaning products are just a few things that get stuck in your air ducts and circulate throughout the area. They just keep recycling through the system and into your home or commercial building.

Improves air flow: If there is a ton of dust built up, it can reduce the amount of air flow through the system. This makes your system work harder, also increasing your bill! Nobody wants that!

Cleaning, sanitizing, disinfecting... Auburn Mass??

4/29/2020 (Permalink)

Cleaning: cleaning refers to wiping down surfaces so they appear neat and clean

Cleaning removes any visible spots or smudges, or debris. Cleaning isn't typically going to take care of germs as well as sanitizing or disinfecting. It helps make your counters nice and shiny, but there's still going to be some germs lingering on there that you should follow up cleaning with sanitizing or disinfecting to ensure the bacteria and germs are gone for good.

Sanitizing: Sanitizing, while still very effective, doesn't kill ALL germs. According to the CDC - sanitizing lowers the number of germs to a safe level.

Disinfecting: Disinfecting works by using chemicals to kill germs.

So... the difference between sanitizing and disinfecting is what confuses most people... to break it down simply, sanitizing lowers the number of germs on a surface and disinfecting kills the germs on a surface.

Why do I need to know the difference?

It's important to understand the differences between these 3 procedures so you know which to use when...makes sense right!

Now your next question probably is... which do I use when?!

When to sanitize: Sanitizing should be done whenever food is involved. After you use a surface (as well as before) for handling food, it should be sanitized. Dishwashers are great at sanitizing your dishes because they use extremely hot water alongside a detergent of some sorts. The same goes for your clothes washer.

When to disinfect: You should keep in mind that disinfecting should kill every germ on the surface. When you're shopping for disinfectants, be sure it removes 100% of the germs. Ensuring this will stop the spread of viruses and diseases.

It's also very important to keep in mind when disinfecting that the surface needs to remain in contact with the solution for a certain amount of time.(surface must remain wet with solution) This time may vary per product but it can vary from 15 seconds to 10 minutes!  Check your product label for the proper contact time.

When to clean: Well... you should clean before you disinfect or sanitize to remove any extra debris around the area.

Cleaning Hacks - Northbridge Homes & Businesses

11/22/2019 (Permalink)

Whether you need to do some quick cleaning before the family comes over for Thanksgiving or just your weekly cleaning tasks, these hacks will definitely help you out. Bonus! They're safe too!

Get that pet hair off the couches with rubber gloves! Just rub any areas that need some extra cleaning, and rinse the gloves off after and the hair will come right off (or throw them away)

Get rid of odors from your couches by combining vinegar, water, and an essential oil...we like a mix of orange, cinnamon, cardamon, and clove. It smells just like the holidays...if they had a smell ??

Wipe your TV screen with a coffee filter, it wont leave any stray fibers behind like a paper towel... use filters to wipe windows too!

Clean your glass stove top by sprinkling baking soda and a little bit of water and let it sit, then wipe it clean

If your oven needs some TLC, mix 1 cup water, 1 cup vinegar, and some lemon essential oil and spray the oven. Cleaning your oven can help prevent fires.

Get rid of carpet stains with vodka...yes, vodka. Blot the stain first, then pour a little bit of vodka onto the stain and dabit.

Drapes & Blinds

8/26/2016 (Permalink)

SERVPRO of Northern Rhode Island excels at cleaning fine fabrics and intricate pieces using wet or dry cleaning methods as required. We carefully inspect and test fabrics to determine which of our System’s five cleaning methods is best suited to your fabrics. We use state-of-the-art equipment designed specifically for cleaning fine fabrics.

When Should My Drapes Be Cleaned?

A good rule-of-thumb is to clean drapes approximately every two years. A recent survey by SERVPRO disclosed that the average customer believes drapes should be cleaned when they look dirty. Depending on your heating system, the amount of smokers in the home, and other factors, drapes may not show soil for two to six years. The oily atmospheric soil will gradually cause the fabric to deteriorate. Often, direct sunlight is unjustly blamed for this. You may triple the life of your draperies through professional cleaning, which is relatively inexpensive compared to replacement costs.

Professional Cleaning

When your draperies need cleaning, make certain they are dry cleaned ONLY. Only a small percentage of materials can be laundered. If in doubt, call us for advice. Be discriminating in your choice of professional dry cleaners. Some cleaners have equipment designed for clothes cleaning, while others have equipment specifically designed for draperies.

SERVPRO of Northern Rhode Island has an exclusive process of dry cleaning draperies right in your home. There’s no need to have your home or office exposed while your draperies are out being cleaned. We inject a specially formulated solvent into your drapery under pressure and extract the chemical, leaving your drapes clean. This special process results in no damage or shrinkage to the material. Most importantly, you will get quality cleaning at a reasonable price.
