Before Storms - Webster, MA

SERVPRO of Southern Worcester County wants you to be safe and stress-free this summer. Call us at 508-234-3399

Although a disaster can strike at any moment, that does not mean you and your family cannot be SERVPRO ready. Here are a few SERVPRO tips.

  1. Make sure you and your loved ones have a plan of action. Build an emergency supply kit and make a family communication plan for when storm strikes. It doesn't need to be written down, but as long as you all are aware of protocol that's what matters..
  2. Next, remove tree branches and debris that could fall and cause injury or damage during a severe thunderstorm.
  3. Make sure outdoor events and activities are postponed.
  4. 30/30 Lightning Safety Rule: Go indoors if, after seeing lightning, you cannot count to 30 before hearing thunder. Stay indoors for 30 minutes after hearing the last clap of thunder.
  5. Secure outdoor objects, like tables and chairs. Bring umbrellas inside, since they're prone to flying away and the cause of many past beach injuries (After all, have you been to Webster Memorial Beach???)
  6. Seek shelter in your home, business, or car (a convertible will not help you in this situation). Do not stay outside.
  7. Close windows and doors. Close window blinds, shades, curtains.
  8. Unplug any electronic equipment and keep a portable charger handy in case of power outage.
