Being a coastal state, Massachusetts summers are full of beaches, pools, hot weather, and sun. SERVPRO of Southern Worcester County always tries to inform the community of safety hazards. A cause of death especially during the summer months is drowning. Next time you're at Memorial Beach in Webster, remember these signs so you can save a life. After all, it might be your loved one who's in danger. Note that if you bring your children to the beach, watch them carefully - it is not easy to spot somebody drowning.
Warning Signs
- persons mouth and head are below water
- person is vertical
- head and mouth are under water
- do not just expect someone drowning to yell and wave their hands back and forth - that's just for the movies. Drowning is usually silent.
- person drowning might have their arms forward or on their side in an effort to paddle up to the surface.
Tip: Especially if you are a parent or guardian, it is imperative to know CPR to save a child's life.
