Spring Cleaning for your Milville Warehouse

Happy Spring Cleaning!

Spring is (almost) in the air! That also means spring cleaning should be on your to-do list at home and at your warehouse! No matter if your warehouse is for building materials, machines, retail warehouses or any other kind of materials, it should be kept clean just like your home! After all, it is your business and probably your “second home”. When you clean your warehouse it’ll improve safety and efficiency!

First things first, get the dust, debris, and trash out! 

Since the winter season is dying down (even though we got minimal snow) there is probably still salt, mud, dirt and other “dirt” inside your warehouse making it look less than attractive. Alongside not making it look clean, the dirt and debris can get into machinery, possibly causing the gears to have problems, and other issues can come into play. 

Like at home, taking the trash out when it's cold, wet, or dark out seems less than appealing to do. But if you do it right away, you won’t come into work to it the next day! Rather than letting trash and scraps pile up in the back of the warehouse, take care of it right away so you don’t have a huge pile to get rid of at the end of the day/week/month. 

If your budget doesn’t allow for calling a cleaning company in, you can use your staff to help out with the cleaning! Make it fun for them so it’ll get done efficiently and no corners will be cut.

• Split the staff up into teams
• Assign them each a task
• Have an incentive at the end for each team!

Deadlines

One good way to avoid doing a few days of just cleaning at the warehouse, set goals and deadlines. Have certain tasks done by a certain date or day of the week. This’ll make it easier to do “spot cleaning” or cleaning as you go.
